“Cate’s Cause” An Appeal against Homelessness
The following is taken directly from the Bendigo Bank Website. Stay tuned for a more detailed update soon. In the meantime, please support our new Nation-wide appeal to help 4 Walls Ltd fight homelessness.
*”Cate’s Cause” an Appeal against Homelessness is a management account of Community Enterprise Foundation™ ABN 69 694 230 518, The Bendigo Centre, PO Box 480, Bendigo, Vic 3552.*
The Community Enterprise Foundation™ has launched “Cate’s Cause” an Appeal against Homelessness in partnership with 4 Walls Ltd.
4 Walls Ltd is a Not For Profit community housing organisation that delivers a diverse range of social, community, resettlement, affordable housing and housing related services to individuals and families in Queensland.
The appeal was inspired by the plight of a Queensland couple, Cate and Rick Bolt, and their nine children. Cate & her family encountered major financial problems as a result of last year’s economic downturn.
Her husband was self-employed as a contractor in the alternate energy markets. The GFC resulted in his contracts being cancelled and they were then hit with some unexpected and very big medical bills. They fell into arrears in their rent and lost their home.
We’ve been able to assist Cate and her family, but sadly this is not the end of homelessness in Australia. Every night more than 100,000 Australians sleep in sheds, tents, parks, garages, caravans, shelters and on the street. It’s time we all pulled together to find a solution to this problem.
Cate is now dedicated to addressing the issue of homelessness in Australia.
“Anyone can become homeless. I have learnt this the hard way. Hopefully my experience will go some way toward helping those people currently struggling and prevent others from enduring similar struggles.”
Funds from this appeal will support programs that will help individuals & families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness with housing & housing related assistance.

This is an inspirational step forward, Cate. Another project!
It is amazing to see in the midst of all you’re experiencing you still spare a thought for those who are doing worse.

No, the appeal is managed through the Bendigo Bank to benefit other families who are homeless. It’s a management account via Bendigo to benefit 4 Walls Ltd, a community housing organisation which helps bridge the gaps between private and government housing.
4 Walls have provided us with temporary accommodation which we rent via them until we are able to find alternate accommodation.
It’s an amazing organisation with 800 houses being rented to individuals and families in need.
